Local Area Information

Numero Treize has the perfect combination of a peaceful location, but within walking distance of the boulangerie, butcher, restaurants, and the lively market.  Montaigu de Quercy has a weekly market on Saturdays throughout the year, and a second produce market on Wednesdays in high season. There is also a bank, hairdressers, pharmacy, medical centre and a supermarket on the edge of the village. There are four restaurants in the village, all serving good food, with lots more within a short drive. Close by are the medieval fortified hill villages of Lauzerte and Tournon d'Agenaise. Other beautiful villages include Beauville, Montcuq, Montjoi. The lovely town of Moissac with its canal and cloisters is well worth a visit.   The towns of Cahors, Villeneuve sur Lot, Agen, and Toulouse are all an easy drive.  A little further away you can visit the amazing village of Rocamadour, built into the rocks. Bergerac and the Dordogne river are an hour and a quarters drive.

Our swimming lake, five minutes drive from the house, has a sandy beach with lifeguards in high season, pedalos, a zip wire and plenty of quiet places for a picnic.

The Quercy region is an area famous for its wines.  Cahors, with its 'black' wine, Bergerac, and many others surround the area.  Most vineyards offer tastings and will welcome you.  Some also sell their own walnuts, walnut cake and of course the famous Agen prunes, said to be the best in the world.
